Monster Jam Reminds Me of How Much I Love Living in Jacksonville

One of the things that really stood out during the pandemic is the advantage we in Florida versus much of the country when it comes to outdoor living. So, when I saw the news that Monster Jam is coming to Jacksonville in March at TIAA Bank Field, it just drove home (no pun intended) how lucky we are to live here and enjoy life outdoors all year round. Truth is, I’ve only been to one Monster Jam with my dad back when I was a kid.

A little background for those of you who are unfamiliar with the mechanics (pun intended now, I can’t help myself!) of a Monster Jam, it’s an event where the audience gets to watch the spectacle of insanely large and tricked-out trucks performing all sorts of stunts. The tires on these trucks seem larger than the largest natural hills we have in the Sunshine State. The entertainment is fueled by a combination of brilliant engineering, athleticism and bravery. After doing some research on the event I learned—the headquarters of Monster Jam is in Palmetto, Florida.

Back to me being reminded about how great it is to live in Jacksonville. Our community is one capable of appreciating equally the joys of hosting a Monster Jam and of hosting the world-class The Players Championship at Sawgrass. We easily adapted to the need for outdoor dining during a pandemic — Jacksonville had friends gathering around a grill year-round long before Covid-19. Right now, while our friends to the North are huddled together inside to stay warm, we are strolling outdoors during the day and sitting around fire pits with the cool air at night. In a few months, we can hop in the car and enjoy the beach.  All in all, Jax is a great place to be during a pandemic or any other time.

That’s it for now. I just felt like sharing a bit of inspiration about our hometown. Who’s in for Monster Jam in March?
